The summer of 1776 came and went while I tried to keep away from Mr.Heron. The war continued on and it didn't seem to effect us most of the time. Twice we got letters from Sam, the first one was about the fighting in New York, the Rebels lost. The second letter didn't explain so much, although he wrote about how they were encamped some where in New Jersey. Mom and Dad got in a fight over if they should reply to his messages or not, mom lost the first time but lost the second time.
I visited my North Salem cousins and realized how crowded it was on the farm. I felt shy around them. We ate at their house and went to bed. In the morning we got the oxen ready and left. The next night we spent at one of dad's friend's house.
